Hair products for baby's hair?

I've been asked a few times about what I use on my hair and my nieces hair. I'll start by saying, I'm one of the worst when it comes to combing/styling hair lol! I love natural hair and am against 100 million puffs with rubber bands and 18million bow-retts! Sorry for the spelling.. that's how we said it growing up. I know that many afro-american moms are gonna hate me for saying that, but it's just my opinion.

I think my nieces hair is the cutest when its in a big puff, maybe two.. with cute bows, or just let down with a headband. I seldom plat/braid their hair... I think its adorable in a big curly puff! My sister sometimes hates me for doing this because I don't "comb" their hair.. but o-well! lol She's slowly adopted the same philosophy :)

My nieces April 09'

If I told you what I use "blue magic" grease and water! Or Pantene (the cheapest, thickest conditoner I can fine) I'm sure you'd have me jailed by the hair-stylist Police of America.

I do however luv the Miss Jessies line of products and have used their line on my hair in the past.

My questions to mommies are:
  1. WHAT DO YOU USE ON THE PRECIOUS HAIR OF YOU LITTLE PRINCESS/WHAT TEXTURE IS HER HAIR
  2. HOW SOON SHOULD PRODUCT BE APPLIED (newborn, 12mo?)
  3. HOW OFTEN WOULD YOU APPLY PRODUCT (everyday, once a week...)
  4. DO YOU LOVE IT
  5. HAVE YOU TRIED OTHER PRODUCTS THAT DID/DIDN'T WORK
I thought this would be a great way to share with moms that may be looking for a bit of direction on what to do with their baby's hair.

  1. hi, I'm from the UK (so you may or may not be able to get the roducts I mention State-side) my daughter is mixed race and she has beautiful afro hair and I love leaving it down - I may put it u in 2 bunches or 1 pig-tail for dancing but thats it. I usually adorne her hair with over sized bows and flowers (usually on a band as clips dont tend to stay in). I wash her hair every 7-10 days with kids colesterol+ conditioning shampoo and comb though Kids organics (by Africa's best)conditioning and detangling lotion when wet and then massage Kids Organics Gro Strong Triple Action Growth Stimulating therey (containing extra vigin olive oil). I usually massage her hair every day with this as it keeps her hair full of volume nad looking healthy and smelling great :-) I agree that leaving afro hair natural is best :-) xx
DO NOT USE KUZA Coconut oil conditioner and hair dressing - it mae my daughter's hair stick together and dread!!!!
